The Nigeria Institute of Town Planners, Anambra State Chapter, has donated foods and household products to inmates at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Amawbia and children at two children homes.

The donation, according to the association, is to support the inmates and children for Christmas as the economic burden occasioned by COVID-19 and other events continues to take tolls on the people.

The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners is a registered body of professional who are into town planning.

Among the items donated by the association were bags of rice, cartons of noodles, beverages, toiletries, disinfectants among others.

The members of the association in Anambra State, led by its Chairman, Mr Maduakonam Amaechina, said that upkeep of both the inmates at the correctional centre and the children at the foster homes was paramount especially at this period, hence, the donation.

Mr Amaechina also noted that the items were donated based on the immediate needs of the beneficiaries and urged the management of the centres and homes to use them for the best care of the inmates and children.

Receiving the gifts at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Amawbia, the Deputy Comptroller in charge of Operations, Mr Edwin Akabueze, thanked the association for remembering the inmates at this period, observing that most of the donated items would serve great use given their costs and scarcity.

The managers of the two foster homes that also got donations from the town planners, Mrs Merit Nnanedu and Reverend Sister Philomena Akuchukwu, also prayed for the donors and asked God to reward and replenish their pockets.
