IGP Orders Strict Security Nationwide for the Yuletide

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has ordered tight security arrangement and strict patrols across the country as Nigerians mark the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The IGP issued the order issued to all the Assistant Inspector-General of Police and Commissioners of Police in charge of zonal and state commands nationwide.

He gave the directive to ensure a peaceful celebration and to guarantee the safety of lives and propery. Adamu also instructed the key officers to ensure massive deployment of intelligence and other operational assets of the police to strategic places including highways, airports, railway stations, recreational centres, motor parks, places of worship, financial institutions, etc.

The IGP urged the officers of the Police to imbibe optimum professionalism in going about the duty and stressed that acts of indiscipline, extortion, and intimidation of travellers and other road users would not be tolerated.

He urged the citizens to take precautionary measures to reduce exposure to security risks and the ravaging COVID-19 during the festive period.

Adamu also felicitated with Christian faithful celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and appreciated Nigerians for supporting the police and other security agencies in the fight against crimes.
