Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, has said that he would rather die than fail to deliver on his promises if he emerges the president in 2023.
Obi stated this on Monday in Lagos while commenting on his backing from his supporters at the Editors Forum, an initiative of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
He said, “I did not know many of them, but I vow not to disappoint them.
“I am determined not to fail them. I would rather die than fail them. I am going to serve them.”
The former Anambra State governor stated that it takes the right leader to resolve most of the country’s challenges by transforming the country from consumption to production.
The Labour Party presidential candidate said that once the country becomes productive, three-quarters of its challenges will be solved. According to him, among the main challenges of Nigeria are poverty, unemployment, criminality, and insecurity.

He added, “We cannot have that number of people living in poverty and not have criminality, banditry, and so on.
“We must remove sharing formula and replace it with the production formula.”
Obi stated that Nigeria is blessed with fertile lands and the citizens will do well in agriculture.
He said, “The hope of this country is the vast uncultivated land, not that oil we are seeing.
“My commitment is to put Nigeria into production.
“It is not acceptable that we cannot feed ourselves.
