Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, says the news of a large deposit of gold discovered in the state is false.
A publication recently claimed that a gold reserve was discovered in the state and was estimated to be over 20 million tonnes which is valued at over $900 trillion.
According to the alleged false report, Governor Soludo, who was described as the chairman of the South East Governor’s Forum, disclosed to journalists that gold was discovered at Ehamufu.

The governor debunked the claim in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary Mr. Christian Aburime.
Soludo said the news was false, to begin with, “Ehamufu is not in Anambra State” and he also insisted that the public disregard such information.
“Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo is not the Chairman of South East Governors’ forum, neither did he brief newsmen of any meeting held by the Forum or phantom discovery of Gold reserves in Ehamufu, Anambra State, as allegedly claimed by the writer(s).”
