#ENDSARS: Oyo Schools Forced to Close as Protests Continue

Most public and private schools in Oyo state have suspended academic activities as at Tuesday morning, African News Today observed.

Although there has not been any official by the State Government over the closing of schools, most private schools said the decision was taken as a result of the hardship students experienced by students due to the #EndSARS protest in major parts of the state on Monday.

Most proprietors maintained that the safety and security of the children is paramount while the protests last informed the decision.

It was observed that most private schools opted to send the notice of closure late in the night in the form of advisory, citing the uncertainty of the protests going awry.

Some state owned schools awaiting State Government directives opened but students were just strolling. The teachers in these schools were said to have been trapped in traffic and unable to get to school.

As at 7:30am on Tuesday, areas like Olodo Garage, Iyana Church, Iwo Road axis as well as Ife-Ibadan Express Road, Egbeda, Toll Gate to Iwo Road axis were blocked.

Similarly, people living around Challenge, Apata, New Garage, 110, Omi Adio, Molete, Beere, Ojoo, Moniya, Ibadan-Oyo Express road also had a fair share of the traffic gridlock as roadblocks were mounted by the protesters brought.
