Breaking: APC Committee Disqualifies Governor Obaseki from Contesting Primary Election

The screening committee set up by the All Progressive Congress (APC) has disqualified incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki from contesting the party’s forthcoming primary election.

The chairman of the screening panel- Jonathan Ayuba disclosed this update during presentation of their report to the national chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja on Friday.

The committee screened six aspirants which included Obaseki, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Pius Odubu, chris Ogiemwonyi, Osaro Obazee and Mathew Iduoriyekemwen.

Ayuba disclosed three aspirants were cleared for the primary on 22 June while two other candidates were disqualified alongside Obaseki.

Governor Obaseki had expressed his lack of faith in been given fair consideration after undergoing screening on Wednesday.

Obaseki had said “Like I said, as a party man I had to go through the screening process but I do not believe that I will get justice because Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is an interested party in Edo process”.

Osagie Ize-Iyamu, former candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2016 Edo governorship contest was cleared to vie for APC’s ticket. Ize-Iyamu is believed to have the blessings of Oshiomhole.
