Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has promised that voters in the State will only vote for politicians who will guarantee the interests of the State.

Wike, a former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate disclosed this on Monday during the inauguration of the Orochiri-Worukwo (Waterlines Junction) flyover alongside Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State.

The Rivers State governor declared that the people of the State would not cast their vote for any candidate who does not have the interest of the State at heart, assuring that interest will guide the choice of candidates.

He said, “If you say Rivers State does not matter, Rivers State will tell you that you don’t also matter at the appropriate time. If you don’t like us, we will not like you. If you like us, we will like you.

“Nobody will use our votes for nothing. Our votes will matter and Rivers State must benefit from anybody that we are going to support.

“Politics now is no longer just vote for somebody, it is about what you will do for the people of Rivers State.”

The statement is coming on the heels of internal wrangling in the PDP at the national level.

There has been a brawl between Wike and the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar since Governor Ifeanyi Okowas was chosen as the vice-presidential candidate.
