The president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has been forced into self-isolation after making contact with a COVID-19 patient.
The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah confirmed the development in a statement saying, “On the advice of doctors, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is taking a 14-day precautionary self-isolation measure in compliance with COVID-19 protocols.”
“The President has elected to do so after at least one person within his close circle tested positive for COVID-19 today.”
The minister went on to say that the President so far tested negative to the virus but is embarking on a precautionary 14 days self-isolation.
“The President will during this precautionary self-isolation period, be working from the Presidential Villa in the Jubilee House.”
